Dominique van Gruisen (36) is een professional in de cannabisindustrie met 15 jaar ervaring, waarbij hij functies heeft bekleed als Chief Operations Officer, Chief of Cultivation en Chief Cannabinoid Expert in biotech/pharma. Hij heeft een diepgaande kennis van EU-cGMP opgedaan zowel door zijn professionele carrière als door permanente educatie aan de Biotech Training Facility in Leiden (NL). Deze inzichten, kennis en ervaring hebben de heer van Gruisen in een unieke positie gebracht om innovaties in vele aspecten van cannabisteelt, technologie, productontwikkeling en faciliteitsontwerp vooruit te helpen. In 2021 was hij medeoprichter van Innexo; een onafhankelijke organisatie voor contractonderzoek, gespecialiseerd in cannabisteelt. De missie van Innexo is het helpen en ondersteunen van innovatieve bedrijven die actief zijn in de cannabis industrie door het leveren van R&D diensten en faciliteiten. Innexo BV heeft een licentie en is gevestigd in Nederland en maakt deel uit van de Botany Group of companies.
Sebastian Olschowski (37) is onderzoeksmanager bij Fluence, waar hij, met gebruikmaking van innovatieve lichttechnologie en de nieuwste laboratoriummethoden, baanbrekende onderzoeksprojecten en kwekerstrajecten in de EMEA-regio bedenkt en coördineert. Hij is gespecialiseerd in het onderzoek naar de reactie van planten op verschillende lichtspectra en – intensiteiten. Met zijn meer dan 10 jaar ervaring in verschillende onderzoeks- en praktijkgerichte disciplines binnen siergewassen, bladgroenten, groenten en medische planten (cannabis) heeft Sebastian toezicht gehouden op projecten van ontwerp tot voltooiing, door onderzoek te stimuleren en de behoeften van klanten te optimaliseren.

Hoe Dominique en Sebastian hun persoonlijke carrière begonnen hoe hun dagelijkse werkzaamheden eruit zien en zich richten op hun gezamenlijke onderzoeksproject, het belang van licht, andere omgevingsparameters en hoe nauwkeurige projecten moeten worden gepland om tot succesvolle en betrouwbare resultaten te leiden. Evenals de volgende stappen die ze nemen in de medische cannabis onderzoekssector om de industrie verder te vormen Fluence is een wereldwijde leverancier van energie-efficiënte LED verlichtingsoplossingen voor gecontroleerde omgeving cannabis productie, is pionier op het gebied van verlichtingstoepassingen en onderzoek in de legale commercialisering van cannabis. Fluence heeft wereldwijd meer dan 325.000 vierkante meter cannabisplantage verlicht en is actief in 95% van de legale landen. Trouw aan de slogan van Fluence, “LED door wetenschap”, investeren we in vooruitstrevende onderzoeksprogramma’s met een academische benadering en commerciële relevantie. De samenwerking met Innexo, dat als missie heeft innovatieve bedrijven die actief zijn in de cannabisindustrie te helpen en te ondersteunen door O&O-diensten en faciliteiten aan te bieden, bevestigt alleen maar dat beide bedrijven hetzelfde doel nastreven. Het recente project waaraan zij samen hebben gewerkt, gaat over het onderwerp lichtdistributie. Het idee van dit onderzoeksproject was te onderzoeken hoe de hoeveelheid en kwaliteit van medicinale cannabis wordt beïnvloed door de manier waarop we het licht op het gewas toepassen. Is er een verschil wanneer alleen licht van bovenaf wordt toegepast (zoals het van nature binnenkomt), of maakt het een verschil als het licht binnenin het gewas wordt toegepast – ervan uitgaande dat er vooral bij dichte gewassen een effect zal zijn, aangezien het licht van bovenaf de bovenste bladeren en de onderste delen van de planten veel donkerder zullen zijn.
Het volgende onderwerp waarop Fluence en Innexo samenwerken is het Acceleration Platform for Innovation dat Innexo aanstuurt en derden in staat stelt professioneel onderzoek te doen. De eerste ronde van de API gaat 10 mei 2023 van start en zal vooral gericht zijn op het optimaliseren van de plantengezondheid. De tweede ronde van de API gaat van start in augustus/september 2023 – de inschrijving is nu geopend!

Fluence has illuminated more than 325,000 square meters of cannabis canopy worldwide and is active in 95% of legal countries. True to Fluence´s tagline, “LED by science” we are investing in forward-leading research programs with an academic approach and commercial relevance – partnering with Innexo, which`s mission is to help und support innovative companies active in the cannabis industry by providing R&D services and facilities just confirms, mindset of both companies are following the same goal. The recent project they worked together on is about the topic of light distribution. The idea of this research project was to investigate how the quantity and quality of medical cannabis is affected by the way of how we apply the light to crop. Meaning is there a difference when applying only from top light (like it is coming in naturally anyway), or does it make a difference if light is applied within the crop – assuming that there will be an effect especially in dense crops, as the light from above will be taken the upper leaves and lower parts of the plants will have much darker conditions. The next topic Fluence and Innexo are working together is the Acceleration Platform for Innovation which Innexo is driving and enabling third parties to conduct professional research. The first round of the API will start May 10 th 2023 and will focus mainly on optimizing plant health. The second round of the API will start August/September 2023 – registration is now open!

Sebastian Olschowski (37) is a Research Manager at Fluence, where he is, according to utilization of innovative lighting technology and latest laboratory methods, conceptualizing and coordinating cutting-edge research projects and grower trails in the EMEA region. He is specialized in the investigation of plant responses to different light spectra and intensities. With 10+ years of his holistic experience in multiple research- and practice-oriented disciplines within ornamental crops, leafy greens, vegetables and medical plants (cannabis) Sebastian has been supervising and overseeing projects from conception to completion is driving forward research and optimizing customers needs.
